RECOGNISE WHO YOU ARE IN THE KINGDOM

RECOGNISE WHO YOU ARE IN THE KINGDOM Main Texts:
  • Colossians 1:18 (NIV) And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy.”
  • 1 Corinthians 12:27 (NIV) “Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.”

Introduction:

Beloved, above verses calls us to reflect deeply on our identity in the Kingdom of God, when we surrender our lives to Christ. Apostle Paul revealed our relationship with Christ that: “He is the head, and we are his body”. This illustration is not symbolic alone—it reveals a spiritual reality with serious implications for our authority, function, and unity with Christ in faith.
  1. Understanding the head-body relationship

When Apostle Paul writes in Colossians 1:18 that Christ is the head of the body, the church, and in 1 Corinthians 12:27 that we are the body of Christ, he is not speaking figuratively but spiritually. The head cannot function independently of the body, and likewise, the body cannot function without the head. Every part of the body-hands, legs, eyes, stomach-serves a purpose. The head provides direction, coordination, and vision, but it is the body that carries out movement and action that the head provide.
  1. Our position in Christ

let us look two additional scriptures that confirm our position:
  • Hebrews 1:3 (KJV) “Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high.”
  • 1 Peter 3:22 (NIV) “[Christ] who has gone into heaven and is at God’s right hand—with angels, authorities and powers in submission to him.”
These verses tell us where Christ is—seated at the right hand of God, in the place of authority, majesty, and dominion. If the head (Jesus Christ) is seated in the right hand of God, and we are his body, then we too are seated there with him! If we are truly His body (and we are!), then we are seated there too, spiritually. The body is not separated from the head. As long as the head is alive and seated in power, the body shares in that position.
  1. Implications of our position

  • We share in Christ’s authorityAll powers and authorities are in submission to Him, and by extension, to us as His body.
  • The devil is under Christ’s feet– Since we are part of the body, the devil is also under your feet, and being there, he (the devil) cannot afflict you while under your feet.
  • We are called to act– The head may see and desire, but it is the body (hands, feet, mouth) that executes the will. That means God is waiting on you to act in the authority you already carry.
  1. Call to action: Start exercising your authority

If this is our position, what then are we waiting for?
  • Speak boldly with authority.
  • Give command with faith and you see it established.
  • Resist the devil and he will flee.
  • Walk as a representative of Christ on earth.

Prayer:

Oh Lord, help me with the power of the Holy spirit to be able to know my position in you and remain in it for the propagation of the gospel and establishment of your Kingdom on earth.

Conclusion: RECOGNISE WHO YOU ARE IN THE KINGDOM

Recognizing your identity in Christ is not just a teaching-it is a revelation. You are not a beggar in the kingdom. You are seated in heavenly places with Christ, far above all powers and principalities. Now, begin to live, speak, and act from that realm of victory. By: Evangelist Akindurodoye, Olusegun Temitope
